MEET THE ARTIST
2020 Juror’s Choice Awards
“After an hour and a half of discussion, we, jurors unanimously chose Survivalist Perspective as this year’s juror’s choice award out of competitive fourteen finalists’ works. The artist’s intention is clearly present with her use of tactile textile medium. All the layers and repeated patterns convey the strength against historical and ongoing struggles, which touches on current social issues. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work.” - Mika Aono, 2020 MAS Juror

About THe Artist
Stormie True
Stormie has been creating for as long as she can remember. Her mother even comments of her desire to make and create, beginning with refashioning her own clothes and creating her first earrings to sell (which she still creates to this day).
Her desire to create has expanded to encompass skills such as glass blowing, textile work, and redesigning vintage clothing. Through her unmistakably unique and abstract lens she has created stunning collections that have received various awards and accolades. Stormie’s resourcefulness and ingenuity are apparent in her work.
Her one-of-a-kind re-designing of vintage clothing contrasts her fresh and unique eye for working with textiles that exude history and legacy. Not only working with her hands, Stormie gives creative life and expression to her thoughts through music and the spoken word and helps others to express themselves through her skin, nail and hair care services at Sybil’s Soul Care.
